Rhode Island Life Science
Partner & Workforce Development Program
Program Overview
The Life Science Partner and Workforce Development Program provides funding to organizations committed to advancing Rhode Island’s commercial life sciences sector and preparing the state’s workforce for its growth. This program supports organizations that deliver specialized programming, resources, and training for life sciences entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses, while also developing career pathways and skills training for Rhode Islanders seeking to enter or advance in the industry.
Emphasizing inclusivity, applicant organizations are encouraged to engage underrepresented populations, including students, career changers, and those historically excluded from the life sciences workforce. By expanding access to technical training, hands-on learning, and professional development opportunities, the program ensures that Rhode Islanders are well-prepared for the high-quality jobs the industry creates.
By strengthening both the support network for life sciences innovation and the talent pipeline that sustains it, this program drives economic growth, industry advancement, and a more diverse and inclusive ecosystem in Rhode Island.

Impact on the Ecosystem
A thriving life science industry requires key support from those who know the industry, regulations, startup pitfalls, funding landscape and more. Organizations who serve and target underrepresented populations in the life sciences have the potential to shape the Rhode Island life science industry and provide opportunities for all Rhode Islanders. RILSH is conscientious of duplication, and we ask applicants to conduct a landscape study before applying, to ensure that the applicant’s offering serve a unique and distinct need in the Rhode Island life science industry. Programs well-positioned for funding are those that focus on bridging key gaps, provide equitable access to services and programs, and focus on entities with commercialization/commercial potential.
