RILSH Grant Fund Guidelines
The Rhode Island Life Science Hub (“RILSH”) board approved the establishment of a fund of $250,000.00 on 2/27/24, which will be used for projects, initiatives, events, programs, and equipment (“Grants”) for a maximum of $10,000.00 in a 12-month period to organizations whose projects are consistent with the purposes of the RILSH which include the facilitation of the development of medical advances and scientific breakthroughs with companies that specialize in the fields of: biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, biomedical technology, biomanufacturing, cell and gene therapies, biomedical engineering, genomics, diagnostics, and the broader life sciences.
Additional guidelines include the following:

The Grants would not be provided to private companies, but instead to educational and academic establishments, non-profit organizations, and trade associations. The Interim President (transferring to the CEO and President when hired) and the Treasurer of the RILSH will review and commit these Grants.

Grants would be reported after the fact to the Board at the next meeting after the Grant is made. Also, a cumulative list will be provided each month to the board.

Grants would be provided to support projects, initiatives, events, programs, equipment etc. all consistent with the goals and objectives of RILSH.

Grant funding will not support staff salaries, financial compensation, or indirect costs of a project.

Applicants from a single organization or academic department can apply for cumulative grants up to $10,000.00. Multiple applications within a single organization or academic department for more than $10,000.00 will not be supported.

Applications will be taken on a rolling basis and awarded, subject to availability of funds, when the application is completed and reviewed and approved by the Interim President (transferring to the CEO and President when hired) and Treasurer.

The application will include: name, address, description, and website of applicant organization, primary contact, application amount(not to exceed $10,000), purpose (description of program, initiative, project, event, or other purpose), use of proceeds with budget and timeline, statement of the alignment of the purposes of RILSH to build, support, and grow the Life Science sector. Acknowledgement that Grants will we awarded on a rolling basis and are subject to the availability of funds.

A post-Grant report will be required no later than 60 days after the use of the funds and include confirmation of the purpose and use of proceeds.

Any and all publicity regarding this Grant are to be reviewed and approved by RILSH in advance.
